Electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC) in Cape Town and the Western Cape
An electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC) confirms that an electrical installation has been inspected and meets the safety requirements. You will usually need one when selling a property, and it is often requested for rentals and by insurers. We inspect the installation, fix what does not comply and issue the certificate.
What is included
- Inspection and testing of the whole installation
- A clear list of anything that does not comply
- Quote and repair of the defects found
- Issue of the Certificate of Compliance once the installation complies
- Advice for estate agents, landlords and conveyancers on what they need
Good to know: Requirements such as how recent the certificate must be differ between conveyancers, municipalities and insurers. Check what yours needs and tell us when you book.
When you need a COC
- Selling or transferring a property
- Renting out a property or moving a new tenant in

Do I need a new COC for every sale or rental?
Requirements vary, so ask your conveyancer, agent or insurer how recent it needs to be.
