Electrical fault finding and repairs in the Western Cape

Guessing at an electrical fault wastes money and can leave a hazard behind. We use diagnostic test equipment and a methodical approach to trace the fault to its source, repair it properly and explain what went wrong so it does not keep recurring.

What is included

  • Inspection of the DB board, circuits and protection devices
  • Insulation resistance and earth leakage testing
  • Tracing of faulty circuits, damaged cables and loose connections
  • Repair or replacement of faulty breakers, sockets, switches and wiring
  • Written or verbal explanation of the cause and the fix
  • Advice on preventing a repeat fault

Common faults we trace

  • Breakers or earth leakage units that trip repeatedly
  • Sockets, lights or whole circuits that have gone dead
  • Flickering or dimming lights and fluctuating power
  • Tingling or shocks from appliances, taps or metal fittings
  • A DB board that is warm, buzzing or smells of burning
  • Unexpectedly high electricity bills with no obvious cause

How it works

  1. Tell us the symptoms

What trips, what has gone dead and when it started helps us narrow the search.

  2. Test and trace

We isolate circuits one at a time and test them until the fault is pinpointed.

  3. Repair

We fix the fault and replace damaged components with suitable, compliant parts.

  4. Test and hand over

We retest the circuit, confirm everything is safe and explain what we found.

Electrical Fault Finding: your questions answered

Why does my breaker keep tripping?

It is protecting you from an overload, a short circuit or an earth leakage fault. A damaged appliance, water in a fitting or deteriorated wiring are common causes, and the correct fix depends on finding which one it is.

Can I just replace the breaker?

Usually not. A breaker that trips is doing its job, and replacing it with a larger one hides the problem and can create a fire risk. Always have the cause found first.

How long does fault finding take?

Simple faults can be found quickly; intermittent faults and older wiring can take longer. We will tell you what we find as we go.

Do you also repair what you find?

Yes. We repair the fault as part of the same visit wherever possible and will quote first if the repair is large.
